Hotels that entered language

Some luxury hotels transcended their meaning and entered daily language:

"The Hanoi Hilton" - Vietnam war prison

"Fawlty Towers" - fictional, for a hotel with funny shortcomings

"Heartbreak Hotel" - several meanings; from Elvis Presley song to Graceland to the Ramada Plaza JFK Airport

"National Hotel disease" - a mysterious sickness, possibly a political poisoning, that killed 35 and injured 400 staying at the National Hotel Washington in 1857

"Bed-In for Peace" - John Lennon and Yoko Ono at the Amsterdam Hilton

"Puttin' on the Ritz" - a high lifestyle, born at the The Ritz, Paris; also a song

"NRT - Not Ritz Type" - conceived at The Ritz, Madrid

"Watergate" - The Watergate Hotel, Washington DC

"Bilderberger" - from the conference that started in 1954 at Hotel de Bilderberg, Oosterbeek, Holland

"Hotel Rwanda" - Hotel des Mille Collines Kempinski (ex-Sabena), Kigali, a movie and statement against genocide

"Hotel California" - The Beverly Hills Hotel, LA (other ideas exist), from the famous song by the Eagles

"The lyrics weave a surrealistic tale in which a weary traveler checks into a luxury hotel. The hotel at first appears inviting and tempting, but it turns out to be a nightmarish place ... It's basically a song about the dark underbelly of the American dream." (Wikipedia)
